Shooting paintballs at targets.
When Miles and I were visiting our aunt and uncle outside of Boston, we drove to a farm. It had a lot of fun things to do.
There were exciting activities like rodeo, corn maze, paintball, and a huge jumping pillow. The rodeo was a fake bull that moved in all directions. It was really hard to stay on and fun to ride. Miles and I held on for a while and when it started we looked really weird trying to hold on. There were two paintball games. The first was we shot paintballs at targets. The next was a paintball gun that shot foam balls. We picked some really good apples and raspberries. There was a huge corn maze shaped as the US. We got lost a few times. It was pretty hard but we got through it eventually. We had good cider donuts that were covered in sugar. We also watched a pig race. There were four small pigs. Each one of us chose one pig that we thought would win and Miles’s pig won (pigs are surprisingly fast). At the farm there was a big jumping pillow that was really fun. There were a lot of people on it so I got double bounced a lot.
The farm was really fun. If you’re in the Boston area you should try and go to Connor’s Farm.

My first Junior Ranger badge was in Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia is a beautiful place because of the lakes, forest, mountains, and ocean.
To get a Junior Ranger badge I had to complete many questions in the Junior Ranger Activity Book. Most of the activities were fun. Some of the activities were a word puzzle, matching the pictures with words, tide pool bingo, and a maze. There were also learning activities. One of the learning activities I did was to find the plant that the book shows. I found a paper birch, quaking aspen, red spruce, balsam fir, white pine, and striped maple. Another thing I had to do was collect two rocks. I had to see what the difference was between the rocks like the colour, shape, and texture. Then I had to guess what type of rock it was.
Besides the activity book, I also had to talk with the Park Rangers. At a Ranger program I learned about satellites. Satellites cost about 200 million dollars and a geostationary satellite is 19 thousand miles away from Earth. I also had to have a park ranger look over the book to make sure I did the activities. Before I got the badge I had to say the Junior Ranger pledge.
I’m going to try and earn more badges during this trip at different national parks.
I’ve been reading about a book called the Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Spear. It takes place in the late 1700s. In Sign of the Beaver there is a boy called Matt and he is 13 years old. He is alone in a cabin for 7 weeks because his dad went to go get the rest of his family. He meets a man called Ben. Ben steals Matt’s gun. Then he meets a Native American who wants him to teach his grandson Attean how to read English. Then Attean and Matt become friends. Attean teaches Matt many things like how to make a bow and arrow. He gives him meat since he had no gun to kill things with but Matt still had fish but he got tired of it. Matt is kind and he is American. Attean knows a lot about nature and he also respects animals. He is Native American.
When I read about how Matt slept in a wigwam I connected it with Plymouth Plantation. At Plymouth Plantation I saw and talked to a Native American and I went inside a wigwam and it was really cool. It had wood logs for beds and it had deer, wolf, raccoon, fox, and bear skins so it was very comfortable. The out side has thick bark for insulation. I would like to build a wigwam some day.
This book is really cool. You should read it and try to go to Plymouth Plantation.
Last week I left this awesome camp called Camp Woodstock. It’s really fun because you get to do fun things like playing in the lake, activities, and nighttime activities. Playing in the lake is fun because they have a cool water trampoline and it has a rope swing and a slide connected. Another thing that’s cool about the lake is called red section fishing. Red section fishing is where you get a musselshell and the fish come to it and then you just grab the fish, but it’s really hard.
At Camp Woodstock we do a lot of activities. I did Navy Seals, BB Gunnery, Archery, Outdoor Cooking, and Ultimate Frisbee. In Navy Seals we do things like play camouflage. In camouflage we have to be very stealthy and sneak up behind one person without getting caught. In BB’s we just shoot BB guns. In Archery we shoot arrows and play Mafia. In Mafia there is a god and everyone put’s their heads down then he chooses a Mafia and an angel. Then the Mafia kills someone and the angel saves someone. Then we try and guess who the Mafia is.
There are activities called night games and they’re at night of course. “What you do at night games?” I hear you shout at me. Well, I will tell you. At night games everyone at camp plays and there is always a skit to go with it and the skits are usually funny but sometimes they are scary. In a night game called Chaos we run around like crazy trying to get points. To get point’s we have to catch the counselors who are dressed as scary characters. Chaos is fun and scary at the same time.
Here is a video from my session at Camp Woodstock. Can you find me and Miles in it?
I really love Camp Woodstock and think you would like it too.
Something I want to learn about is whittling. I think you need to have swift hands and you need to know how to cut. I like it because you can make different shapes and you can make tools. You could also make hunting gear so you could get food. You could make carved little people and big animals or you could make people attacking the animals like they did a long, long time ago. If you whittle then you can make a ton of different things.
Me surfing in Australia last year. Hope to try it again in California.
I want to visit California because it has a lot of beaches. If we go to the beaches I will totally want to surf! There is this really cool beach by an airport. I want to go there because when a plane takes of you hold onto the metal gate and you see how long you can last. Another place in California is a parkour place called Tempest. It is so cool. The thing I think is the coolest is you can do backflips and land in about a 7-foot pit of foam. I like California because it is warm and it has a lot of awesome things to do.
